Passover, the way to escape from the disaster

Have you heard about the Passover of the new covenant?

Many people might be familiar with the Passover as Jewish custom. 

But did you know that there is the Passover of the new covenant, which established by Jesus Christ 2,000 years ago?

Ex 12:1-14 ...Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the door frames of the houses where they eat the lambs....it is the Lord's Passover. On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both men and animals, and I will bring judgement on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are. When I see the blood I will pass over you No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.

In the Old Testament, God commanded them to keep the Passover by slaughtering lamb. It was God's plan to protect God's people, Israelite from the plague. Passover contains promise of God. By celebrating the Passover, they could escape from the last plague which took place in Egypt. At the same time, they were able to get freedom from the slave. 

Then, 

what about these days?

Do we have to keep the Passover by slaughtering animals?

Mt 27:17-28 ... I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house... While they were eating Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it the his disciples, saying "Take and eat, this is my body." Then he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is pour out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 

2,000 years ago, our God came down himself in the name of Jesus and became a sacrificial Passover lamb and shed precious blood on the cross to establish the Passover of the new covenant.

In the new testament, Jesus set an example to celebrate the Passover by eating bread and wine, which represent our God's flesh and blood. Then as Christians who believe and follow Christ, don't we have to keep the Passover with bread and wine in this age too?

Even though the way of keeping Passover had been changed by God, the promise of God still affects. 

Nowadays there are so many unheard of disasters are occurring all over the world. We cannot escape from those disasters. But there is way, that is keeping the Passover of the new covenant and receive the promise of God.
